Service Implementation
Community-based organizations are at the heart of Kansas’s Family First Prevention Services initiative. These programs are contracted as grantee service providers by the Kansas Department for Children and Families (DCF) to deliver direct support to children and families across the state—offering proven programs to strengthen families, prevent out-of-home placement, and build community resilience. These partners are rooted in local communities and bring family-centered, culturally responsive, evidence-based services to families across Kansas.
Programs in the Kansas Family First service array are selected based on the needs identified by Kansans and are offered in every Kansas county. Availability of specific programs varies by county based on the needs identified through a statewide listening session in 2019.
Programs are offered in every county and the availability of specific programs varies based on local needs. Some programs are delivered statewide; others may only be in a few counties, and some programs are delivered by multiple agencies to ensure accessibility for families across the state.
